The first year of our next decade of festivals! To launch this in style, we have assembled a group of absolutely outstanding
artists: Ariel Lanyi joins us from London where he is making waves internationally as the pianist to watch, bringing both dazzling technique and inspired poetry to his interpretations; SEMF favourite superstar Andrew Haveron returns, in the company of ACO royalty Helena Rathbone, and esteemed violinist Curt Thompson; we welcome double bass legend Max McBride and sought-after violist Amanda Werner; and of course our dear SEMF artist family of Tobi, Sara and Andrea.
With this lineup, we assume you’ll forgive us programming a Trout quintet! Mahler, Bartok, Dvorak and Saint-Saens are also featured, but with lesser-known works, while SEMF regulars Suk and Onslow also make a welcome return, as do Fanny Mendelssohn and Clara Schumann. But Medtner, Blanc, Busch and Ries? Well, you’ll just have to wait and see – we’re super excited for these fresh encounters!
Our culinary artists Ms Batterhams of Bendigo are with us once again after their spectacular debut last year, and as always our extraordinary hosts the Hunter family with Mark’s extraordinary wines will make this weekend a memorable one, and a fitting start to the next SEMF chapter.
